10 Coloring Activities for Parents and Teachers
A coloring page can do much more than fill ten quiet minutes. Here are ten simple activities you can run at home or in the classroom, with no special supplies.
Color by instruction
Give directions such as "Color the ears orange and the tail blue." This practises listening and color names.
Letter hunt
Choose an animal and ask children to say the letter it starts with. Then find other pictures that begin with the same letter.
Make an alphabet book
Print one animal for every letter, color them and staple them into a book.
Story time
After coloring, ask your child to tell a short story about the picture. Write it at the bottom of the page.
Mood coloring
Ask how your child feels and let them pick colors to match. It opens an easy conversation.
Color mixing
Use the paint tools to try blends: yellow and blue for green, red and yellow for orange.
Space mission
Color a rocket and planet, then talk about the Solar System and what astronauts do.
Counting practice
Count the petals on a flower, the windows on a bus or the wheels on a car, and write the numbers.
Family contest
Everyone colors the same page their own way. Vote for the most creative one, not the neatest.
Gift cards
Color a heart, a gift box or a balloon page and use it as a handmade card.
Every activity works with free ColorFun pages.
